She researched at the Institute of Culture in Hanoi from 1981 to 1987.
She now divides her time between Vietnam and Sweden – where she paints and teaches art. Van Duong Thanh’s work were added by the Vietnamese National Museum of Arts to its collection for the first time when she was 20. Since then, many of her exquisite artworks are on permanent display in national art museums and galleries in several countries including Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong, Spain and Sweden.
Being distinctive for a subtle combination of Asian and European heritage in which Western techniques are used to depict traditional
Vietnamese motifs of the natural world through more than 1,600 paintings, Van Duong Thanh successfully inspires a large number of both
domestic and international art lovers. The harmonious composition of vibrant colors, reflection of its emotional value and touches of expressive semi-abstraction makes her paintings easily recognizable.
Van Duong Thanh received, among other awards, the highly regarded “International Excellence of Art of CFMI”, USA-France 1995 and 1997, and “Glory of the Nation” in 2007.

Selected exhibitions:

1980, 90 National Museum of Art, Vietnam
1990 National Museum of Art, HCM City
1992 Gallerie la Masion du Vietnam, Paris
1993 Silpakorn Art Univeristy, Thailand
1994 Notices the Gallery, Singapore
1995 World Trade Center, Singapore
2000 Staffanstorps Konsthall, Sverige
2002 Gallerie la Vong, Hong Kong
2003 Goethe Institute, Hamburg
2004 Gallery St. Croix, USA
2005 Vietnam Museum of Ethnology, Hanoi
2007 L’Espace French Cultural Center, Hanoi
2008 National Museum of Art, Hanoi
2009 Sofitel Plaza Hotel, Hanoi
2010 Rex Hotel Saigon, HCM City
2011 Museum of Asia Pacific, Warsaw
2011 Chopin Museum, Warsaw
2012 HSBC Hanoi and HCM City
2012 – 2014 U.N.D.P, Hanoi
2013 Conference Hall of European Ambassadors in Hanoi
2014 Gallery Cupido, Stockholm
2015 Dong Son Grand Lounge, Hanoi

Painting exhibition by Van Duong Thanh Invitation On the occasion of the 45th anniversary of the Vietnam – Sweden diplomatic relations: Painting exhibition by Van Duong Thanh The exhibition will be opened by H.E.
